2016 Race Information

LOCATION: Hamsterly Beach, North end of Elk Lake beside the Pat Bay Highway, 13km North of Victoria

Triathlon Olympic
- 1.5km Swim, 40km Cycle , 10km Run
Triathlon Sprint - 750 meter Swim, 20km Cycle, 5km Run
Duathlon - 5km Run, 40km Cycle, 10km Run
Youth Triathlon (16-19) - 750 meter Swim, 20km Cycle, 5km Run

Individual awards:

A trophy is given to the top overall male and female age class winners in Youth Triathlons, Sprint Triathlon, Olympic Triathlon and Duathlon.
A trophy is given to the top overall male and female Elite/Pro winners in the Olympic Triathlon.
A medal is given to the top three male and female finishers in the Sprint Triathlon, Olympic Triathlon and Duathlon in each of the following age classes: 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+, and Elite/Pro category.
A medal is given to the top three male and female finishers in the Youth Triathlon.
Relay Awards: Olympic Distance Triathlon and Duathlon medals are given to top three finishers in each of the following categories: Men, Women, Mixed, Masters (combined age of 150 years or more).  Medals are given to the top 3 relay teams in the Youth 16-19
Note: A triathlon or duathlon team may have two or three members. Youth team members can be male or female.

Challenge Cup Olympic Triathlon Team Categories:
Recreation and Fitness Centre Triathlon Relay Challenge Cup:
This is the tenth year that local Victoria Recreation Centres will be invited to compete for this annual Challenge Cup.  Link to Challenge Cup
Police/Fire/Medics Triathlon Relay Challenge Cup: This is the sixth year for police, firefighters and paramedics to compete for this annual Challenge Cup. Link to Challenge Cup

Optional Bicycle Safety Check-up:
Oak Bay Bicycle will be on site Saturday, July 30th and race day morning to offer optional bike check. However, it is emphasized that competitors are responsible for the road worthiness and correct operation of their bicycle.
Race Packet Pick-up: Race packet pick-up is at the race site, Hamsterly Beach, Brookleigh Road, at the north end of Elk Lake on Friday, Jul 29th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday, Jully 30th from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. No race packets will be given out on the day of race.
Pre-race Meeting: There will be a Pre-race Meeting for all athletes at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 30th at the race site at Hamsterly Beach. The meeting is highly recommended for all competitors especially Youth and first time Self-Trancendence triathletes and duathletes. There will be ONE MEETING starting at 2pm for ALL competitors

All competitors MUST check in between 6:00 am - 6:45 am for body marking and timing chip
Race Start: Race Start is 7:00 am.
Awards: The Awards Ceremony and with special draw prizes will begin at approximately 11:30 am.
Results: Results will be available online at sportstats.ca
Draw Prizes: Winning numbers will be drawn by 10:30 am

Ferry Info:
  Jul 29-Aug 1 is a long weekend in BC and there may be line-ups at the ferry terminals. BC Ferries

Camping: CRD Parks bylaws prohibit overnight camping in Elk Lake Park.
Wetsuits: If the water temperature is above 22 C, unfortunately wetsuits will not be permitted due to Triathlon Canada rules. The water temperature and the decision on whether or not wetsuits will be allowed will be announced by 6:30 am race day.  Always bring your wetsuit to the lake on race day!
Age: Awards will be presented based on the competitors age as of December 31, 2016.
Helmets: Tri BC rules state that bicycle helmets are compulsory. The helmet must be approved by an officially recognized testing authority (ANSI or Snell).
